Moa Foodtech to Receive 3 Million Euros to Use AI in Food Production

The company uses artificial intelligence to create alternative protein sources while also mitigating climate change

The Spanish foodtech company recently received 3 million euros in funding, which it will use to advance Albatros, its AI platform, which works to streamline the creation of new solutions and ingredients, allowing the company to cut costs and increase efficiency.

As the company is in the business of transforming agri-food by-products, it’s able to mitigate climate change, biodiversity loss, and ocean acidification.

Says Icos Capital, which is providing funding to Moa, "Moa Foodtech has succeeded in combining the potential of industrial biotechnology with AI to offer cost-competitive and carbon-efficient functional ingredients. In this way, it addresses in parallel the global need for nutritional ingredients while applying circular approaches by valorizing agri-food side-streams.”

The funds will also be used for general purposes, like to expand its operations, production, and marketing strategy, and improve its capabilities.
