The Open Days are promotional events for the presentation of Spanish products to local food and beverage regional distributors in China. Additionally, Spanish companies, as well as organizations, associations, DO/IGP, and autonomous communities, can have the opportunity to participate with an exhibition booth to showcase their products.
This activity is part of the #SpainFoodNation campaign developed under the agreement signed by ICEX and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food (MAPA) to promote the image of Spanish food, wines, and beverages in key export markets and provide new opportunities for Spanish companies.
This exhibition brings together the entire professional audience from the local food industry, including key players such as importers, distributors, HORECA, and specialized media.
It’s an exceptional opportunity to present products that can be considered gourmet, specialty, or imported, especially those with geographical indications or certifications like organic. Additionally, parallel activities related to Spanish culture and gastronomy will be held during the event.
The event is restricted to general public, and only professionals from the trade will be invited.
The OpenDay in Xiamen will be on the 25th of June in a 4 to 5 hotel star in the commercial area of the city.
Xiamen, with a population of nearly 6 million, is the best-known city in Fujian Province, which itself has a population of about 45 million. Located on the coast opposite the island of Taiwan, it is one of the most open cities in China. Its international deepwater port is the sixth busiest in China, and the fourth in large container ships, and one of the most automated in the world. With an economic growth of 5.7% in 2024, well above the national average of 4.5%, it shows itself as a clearly expanding, vibrant and lively city. Xiamen reached a GDP of close to 115 billion euros in 2024. Historically, the port of Xiamen was one of the first ports in China to open to international trade, having had foreign settlements since the 15th century, and having been the base from which shipments of tea were exported to Europe. All of this has given it the air of a cosmopolitan, beautiful, cultured city, with a relaxed lifestyle and open to international influences, and with a rich and varied culinary tradition, greatly influenced by its coastal location.
